Gildan Activewear Announces Leadership Changes – Vince Tyra Appointed as President and CEO; Glenn Chamandy Leaving

December 11, 2023 – Gildan Activewear Inc. (GIL: TSX and NYSE) announced that Glenn J. Chamandy has left his position as President and Chief Executive Officer and director of the Company. Vince Tyra has been appointed President and CEO, effective February 12, 2024. Craig A. Leavitt, a director of the Company since 2018, will serve as Interim President and Chief Executive Officer until Mr. Tyra assumes his new position.

OVER 900 VISIT CALGARY IMPRINT CANADA SHOW

October 5, 2023 – The 24th edition of the Western Imprint Canada Show returned to Calgary September 28 & 29 at the BMO Centre.

Exhibitors welcomed 881 attendees (along with more than 50 end-buyers) — and according to post-Show surveys — they were thrilled to be there: 30.8% rated the Show as Excellent, 43.1% as Very Good and 21.5% as Good, while 90.9% said that they already plan to return in 2024.

“Lots of exhibitors with professional knowledge,” said Karl of Polar Promotions. “Great location and atmosphere!”

“1st class! Got a lot out of the Show! exclaimed Dave Bacon of Threadz Sales, who praised the “fresh new lines” he saw at the Show.

The Promotion Factory’s Norm Rabinovitch stressed the importance of this event in Calgary. “The Western Imprint Canada Show continues to be a valuable tool for connecting industry professionals on our local home turf,” he said. “Viewing samples, learning from experts is important to understanding garments and embellishment possibilities. MONTRÉAL SHOW WELCOMES 841 Attendees

September 10, 2023 – Le Salon National « Imprint Canada » returned to Montréal September 7 & 8, welcoming 841 attendees.

The 2023 event saw a slight increase from 803 in 2022, boosted by a strong second day which saw increased attendance over Thursday, and reversing the previous year which saw higher attendance on the opening day.

Congratulations to S&S Canada for winning Best Booth Design and to Just Like Hero for being voted by attendees as Best Sales Environment.

Le Salon National ” Imprint Canada ” est revenu à Montréal les 7 et 8 septembre, accueillant 841 participants.

L’événement de 2023 a connu une légère augmentation par rapport aux 803 participants de 2022, stimulée par une forte deuxième journée qui a vu une augmentation de la fréquentation par rapport au jeudi, et inversant la tendance de l’année précédente qui avait vu une augmentation de la fréquentation le jour d’ouverture.

Cutter & Buck Canada Appoints Mark Alexander as CEO

August 25, 2023 – The Canadian division of Cutter & Buck has a new chief executive officer.

Mark Alexander has taken the reins at Cutter & Buck Canada, replacing interim CEO Jake Rawson, who will now assume a role in executive management at Cutter & Buck in the U.S.

Alexander joined Cutter & Buck Canada in 2017 as director of operations, after experience in sales management and operations with Trimark Canada and Second Skin Garment Company.

“Mark has played an integral role in the overall success of our business in Canada for many years,” said Rawson. “He’s a strong leader with a unique perspective on our brands, our strategy, our partners and our team. There’s a huge opportunity in front of us in the market, and he is well suited to lead Cutter & Buck into the future.”

Gildan Activewear Reports Results for the Second Quarter of 2023

August 3, 2023 – Gildan Activewear Inc. (GIL: TSX and NYSE) announced results for the second quarter ended July 2, 2023.

“We are pleased with our top line performance which came in ahead of our expectations for the quarter, up against a strong comparative period” said Glenn J. Chamandy, Gildan’s President and CEO. “Further, in a challenging macro environment, we are driving market share gains given our strong competitive position and continued execution on our GSG strategy”.

Highlights from the Q2 report:

  • Sales of $840 million
  • Operating margin of 21.7%, adjusted operating margin1 of 16.5%
  • GAAP diluted EPS of $0.87 and adjusted diluted EPS1 of $0.63
  • Cash flow from operations of $182 million and free cash flow1 of $126 million
  • Approximately $145 million of capital returned to shareholders during the quarter through dividends and share repurchases
  • Company announces renewal of Normal Course Issuer Bid to repurchase up to 5% of issued and outstanding shares
  • Company lowers its FY 2023 outlook to reflect the impact of current market conditions
